Current Symbian Software for Nokia N95, N80, N73 and other Symbian Mobiles

'Your Computer, your PC, your MP3-Player'... By now we're all familiar with these billboards from underground stations and bus stops. It's the current campaign for the Nokia N95- more than just a mobile.

But what makes it a useful PC? Not only the powerful hardware bundled up inside it, but also the applications people use to activate the technology to get the most from the device.

People on the go usually have a mobile with them, and now more than ever they use it to access data- many software developers have been busy creating useful programs for the Nokia N95 and its N-Series siblings, the N80 and N73. All of them function using the newest Symbian S60 3rd edition operating system.

When outside of the city, say, in the wilderness hiking or geocaching AFTrack for Nokia N95 helps you orienteer. Together with a Bluetooth GPS receiver it provides the user with their current location and saves waypoints and routes.

Before the trip you should have a look at the weather at your destination to make sure that you have the right equipment, since there's nothing worse than getting caught in a rain storm without an umbrella! Handy Weather for Symbian OS provides you with current weather reports the world over.

If you find yourself not only in an unfamiliar city, but also in a foreign country, then not only are you going to have difficulties orienteering, but also with the language. As a solution to this problem there's a dictionary for nearly every language available from SlovoEd, some of the most thorough language references available for your Symbian mobile phone. Hundreds of thousands of entries and easy navigation serve to help you find the word or phrase you're looking for when you need it.

Sometimes one's own language is even a challenge, and the correct choice of words can make all the difference in some situations. In order to avoid a case of Lapsus Linguae, we recommend installing one of these dictionaries, depending on your native language, of course.

Why not try Berlitz Compact French, Berlitz Compact Italian, Berlitz Compact Spanish, or Berlitz Compact German, or any of the Oxford range of language products. For example: MSDict Pocket Oxford English Dictionary and Thesaurus (S60 3rd Edition) 3.01 or the MSDict Oxford Dictionary of Idioms (S60 3rd Edition) 3.01 might be helpful.

Of course, the device is also a powerful way of communicating, and there are many applications to help you maximise the functionality of the telephone component. Advanced Call Manager helps you manage all of your calls, and with Best Blacklist for Nokia N95 you can protect against calls and messages from unauthorised senders. With Best Profiles the user is in complete control of the phone's behaviour; different profiles can be customised and set for different situations, like 'at work' and 'at home', for example. This helps to avoid missing important calls or being interupted, depending on whatever you require.

Mobile4Shopping turns your mobile into a handy shopping list, and to make sure that nobody views your confidential information there's PhoneGuardian.

IM+ für Symbian Series 60 provides your mobile with all of your favourite messaging platforms, like ICQ, MSN, Google Talk, Yahoo and AOL.

But not only can the device be used for practical tasks like those mentioned above, but there are numerous entertaining diversions available to help you spend your free time enjoying your Nokia, too. The N95 doesn't have a high-resolution screen and great sound playback for nothing; SmartMovie for Nokia N95 makes it possible to convert DVDs or films from TV so that the user can view them comfortably on the go. Take your favourite movies with you the beach or to the park and enjoy the outdoors at the same time. VirtualRadio for Nokia S60 3rd edition is an Internet radio receiver, so if movies aren't what you have in mind, you can listen to some music or catch the latest news.

How about a game? Sudoku, Dreamway, Sky Force Reloaded, Super Miners and K-Rally are just some of the top titles available for PC which have been made available to Nokia phones.

The SmartSym Team wishes everyone a great start for the summer season and plenty of enjoyable and productive hours with your Nokia phones!
